In 2023, I shifted public programs at the Shadows to be thematic. January-April focused on Louisiana Foodways.
January was a lecture and cocktail tasting: “History of the Louisiana Cocktail”
February was a lecture on Slavery and food-ways
March was a presentation on community gardens as a method of neighborhood revitalization
April was the capstone program: Garden to Glass.
Garden to Glass was a capstone for the Louisiana Foodways programming. The event welcomed 4 Louisiana distillers who created new cocktails inspired by community gardens. Catering was provided by a veteran owned and operated community garden.
150 people attended and the majority of which were a new audience to the museum and under 40 years old.
